11/03/2007 - FLIMWELL - TWINAXLE TROPHY ROUND 1

Event Location:
Flmwell
Event Format:
Punch Challenge
Organisers:
Bunny
Winner:
Stodd
Clean At The Start!

Clean At The Start!

Round one was an exciting prospect, the new MSA insurance all raring to go, with full on scrutineering et all. The turnout was modest, but that was ok, since we wanted to test our setup and paperwork and ensure we were ready when we had a really BIG crowd. As usual Bunny had done an excellent job setting up and we were ready to rock in no time. (Drivers briefing in 5...4...3...2...1...)

Stodd and Stoo Go For It!

Stodd and Stoo Go For It!

The challenge was simple - get all the punches, 15 in the AM and 15 in the PM plus extra points for finishing early. The really tough nature of the terrain meant a last minute addition, extra points for recovering another team! This was used to great effect by some teams. For the sake of evening things up, Bunny awarded a further 100 points to any members co-driving in the PM to make up for the points they lost by not using their vehicles.

Stoo and Stodd raced ahead in the AM, finishing with over an hour spare, and earning a bunch of extra points for it. Averaging a time of 6 minutes per punch. Si and Chris tried to keep up, but the lower performance Jungle Trekkers just couldn't cut it in the really rough stuff. All was going well until Stodd lost a tyre on the way back from the last punch.....fortunately the extra time earned could be utilised to resolve the issue and push on.

I Hit What?!

In the PM the race for the title was even closer, Si and Chris nearly pulling it out of the bug to finish ahead, but Stodd and Stoo managed to gain just enough points to keep the lead and emerge victorious.

Captain Clean....Not So Clean!

All in all the event was a great one, could have used more support from the members, but for the first event run under the more stringent MSA regulations the event was a great success.

GO GO GO!

GO GO GO

Bring on Round 2 - its all still to play for!
